Boob Job

I suspect a friend had her breasts augmented. I would like to ask her if this is, but am not sure how to approach the topic. Any suggestions?

Names

I work in an international community. When you have several different languages and cultures colliding, sometimes it can be quite confusing. Name syntax is not straight forward, especially Asian names. Often new people in the department are called by their last name for the first few months. For example, Dr. R came to the department last fall. Everyone from the lab he was working in called him Dr. R for the first month, then shortened it to R. A month later, his lab mates realized his name was actually A, so while his coworkers were calling him A, the rest of the department was calling him R. I know full well that his name is A, but out of habit called him R yesterday. Afterwards, I thought how strange would it be to randomly be called 'Vail' by people I work with. I think that would even be funnier than being called 'Shally' for a month.

did everyone in the greater s'toon area forget how to drive the last couple of days? i have seen a heck of a lot of smashed up vehicles around ... including some rail cars turned over with grain pouring out! on top of that, i was almost hit by some dork who was having trouble staying in his own lane this afternoon. i think i'll bike on the sidewalk till my trust in vehicle drivers is restored.

Bad Electronic Luck

Within the past few days I have managed to lose the following electronics:
-my memory stick
-my diskman

I am disappointed to have lost the following things in descending order:
1) my memory stick (I am actually going to burn Monday's conference presentation on a CD!)
2) my Regina Spektor CD in my diskman case
3) The rechargeable batteries in my diskman.

To be perfectly honest, I was hoping my diskman would be stolen so I'd have a good excuse to buy an ipod. I'd hoped I would loose all the stuff listed above along with it.

today i wrote a letter of reference for someone applying to graduate school. i do not feel mature or accomplished enough to do so, but i did 'er anyways.
