ever so slight lament

Anger Management

I never understood why someone would feel compelled to vandalize property until I had to deal with Parking Services and the Facilities Management department at the institution I work at. I wish there were designated places to vent via spray paint on this campus as there is at the other university I have attended.

Spring

I am really glad spring is finally here. I am also really glad I live on the opposite side of the river from where the thousands of birds decided to hover over last night. Anyone walking along Spadina last night would have, I'm sure, had a little present from above that would have made them dislike spring, or at least the migratory part of it.

BTW, did anyone see or hear these birds last night. It was unreal. I could hear them locked away in my basement apartment and they looked like clouds of black circling around the sky. Most of them seemed to have moved on today.

Writing Scientific Papers

When I was in Portugal last November, I spent a week writing a paper with a glass of wine in my hand. I had not looked at my drunken-masterpiece until now and realize I should never, ever write while consuming alcohol. I can't believe I thought what I wrote was decent let along good. My new thing is writing while listening to 90s grunge music.

She isn't sick ... she is a dancer!

This past year I have had the pleasure of taking a class on teaching. It has been interesting to discuss something I have experience first-hand for the past 25 years, yet never considered from a theoretical perspective. Yesterday, we were shown this keynote address by Sir Ken Robinson on creativity in schools. If you have 20 minutes, I would highly suggest listening to the talk.
